These distinctions are the foundation for reading peptide information without turning an early result, proposed mechanism, or database entry into more than it is.

Concept 01

Peptides are amino-acid chains

At the chemistry level, peptides are made from amino-acid residues joined by peptide bonds. Labels such as oligopeptide, polypeptide, and protein can use different chain-length conventions, so the source's definition matters.

Concept 02

Sequence and shape both matter

The order of amino acids is a peptide's primary structure. That sequence, together with the shape the chain can adopt, helps determine how it may interact in a biological system.

Concept 03

A research mention is not an approval

Laboratory, animal, and human research answer different questions. A molecule appearing in scientific literature does not by itself establish clinical safety, effectiveness, or regulatory approval.
